Privacy & Security FAQ
Straight answers, healthcare worker to healthcare worker. These are the exact questions verified professionals — nurses, physicians, paramedics, therapists, and more — have asked us about how license verification works, and what we actually do with your information.
1. What do you do with my license number?
It’s used once, at signup, to verify you against public national registries — the NPI Registry, Nursys, or NREMT depending on your role. It is never stored. Once verification is complete, the license number is deleted — not archived, not kept on file, gone. Your account keeps only a “Verified ✓” flag. It is never shown to other users at any point, and because we don’t hold onto it, there’s nothing to leak, sell, or hand over even if subpoenaed.
2. Can other users see my license or employer?
No. Your license number is never displayed to matches, full stop — and as covered above, it’s deleted once verification completes, so it isn’t sitting anywhere waiting to be seen. Your employer isn’t shown either — we don’t collect it as a public field, and it never appears on your profile unless you choose to write it into your own bio.
3. What shows on my profile?
By default: your first name and your profession — e.g. “Sarah, RN.” No employer, no license number, no city-level precision, unless you choose to add it yourself. You’re always in control of what else you share, and you can leave it at the minimum.
4. How do you verify me?
Your role and license number are checked automatically against the relevant public registry (NPI, Nursys, or NREMT) first. If there’s no exact match, you’ll be asked to upload a work badge or employer ID and a photo of your license or professional credential for a private manual review — those documents are for admin verification only and are never shown to other users. Some roles also use a private verification selfie compared against your profile photo to block fake or stolen-photo profiles; that selfie stays admin-only too.
5. What happens if I delete my account?
You can request access to or deletion of your information at any time. Deleting your account removes your profile, photos, matches, and messages. We don’t sell or rent your data to third parties. California residents have additional rights under the CCPA, including the right to know and the right to delete — we honor these requests for all users, regardless of where you live.
